Method
Approach
The approach is always tailored to the needs (at that moment) and the strengths of the child.
The focus is on achieving good results by repeating the material taught in class, creating summaries together, (re)doing exercises, tackling extension activities, and using playful activities for pupils in kindergarten and primary school. (Active vs. passive learning)
Tutoring M@ V is a strong advocate of the 'growth mindset'. Below is a comparison between the growth mindset and the fixed mindset.
Helping pupils become independent is also important. They need to become self-reliant and be able to direct their own learning process. By taking matters into their own hands, they can prevent problems themselves and work proactively on their difficulties. At the time of an assessment, the same support is not (always) available. That is why the work is always based on the EDI model towards independence: explicit direct instruction.

In addition, the image below emphasizes that studying must be done in the right way. Together, a method is sought that is effective for you. After the tutoring session, it is still necessary to review and practice. Once again: independence!

In order to grow and deliver high(er) performance, several things are important ...
Time is regularly taken to reflect on why something did not work (at first). Afterwards, the steps that were taken to achieve the progress made are examined. Learning then becomes more than just learning ...
From time to time, a challenging assignment is also given for the next tutoring session. This shows whether the material has truly been understood or whether extra revision is needed. Intervening in time is essential!
Extra help
Students may always send in their difficulties in between sessions:
Attention: It is not always possible to answer a question the day before a test or a deadline.
- Do they have to complete an assignment but don’t understand how to get started? This will be briefly explained or an example exercise will be sent.
- Are there difficulties while studying for a test or exam? Send the question and help will be provided as soon as possible!
- Can’t they find the solution to the challenging task for the next tutoring session? A hint will be given!
- Does a son/daughter need extra exercises? A lot of extra exercises are provided under 'Online oefenen'.
The support above is also completely free when tutoring is already being followed!
Beloningen

Children in primary school can earn a sticker or stamp (or several) after each tutoring session if they have worked well. Once they have collected 30 stickers or stamps on their sticker and stamp sheet, they may choose a small gift from the box. In this way, there is a continuous effort to motivate children to stay engaged and do their best for school.
The reward box contains various colored pens, pencils that stimulate fine motor skills, small toys, stickers, dice, mini pencil cases, highlighters, ...
Important: This is just a small extra. The main focus remains on intrinsic motivation.

Every now and then, milestones are reached. A goal is achieved that has been difficult for a long time. This definitely deserves some extra attention. Maybe there will even be a personal (sock) diploma?
